‘Incorporating Art Psychotherapy/ Core Creative Psychotherapies within a therapeutic community model at HMP Grendon’ – Jo Augustus, Manager of Core Creative Therapies (Art, Music and Psychodrama Psychotherapies) at HMP Grendon & Art Therapist

Jo Augustus is a qualified Arts Psychotherapist who has practised working within Therapeutic Communities for the past 26 years. She is currently the Lead DTC Core Creative Psychotherapist at HMP Grendon and has worked there for the past 21 years. Previously she has worked within an Adolescent therapeutic community. Jo is currently responsible for the development and management of the Core Creative Psychotherapies Department at Grendon, which comprises of a team of 10 Core Creative Psychotherapists whose modalities are art therapy, music therapy and Psychodrama. In addition, her clinical work at HMP Grendon is largely based working across two therapeutic communities, including the Enhanced Assessment Unit. Jo is also a UKCP registered Creative Clinical Supervisor and a UK registered EMDR Practitioner. Jo has developed functional evaluation and research methods concerning the efficacy of the core creative psychotherapies within this TC custodial setting.
