Oxford Psychotherapy Society

For professionals and students in the field of psychotherapy

Welcome

Welcome to the Oxford Psychotherapy Society (OPS). Established in 1985, our membership includes a diverse range of approaches within the Talking Cure. Our monthly meetings and range of peer groups offer continuing professional development in a convivial atmosphere.

Mission statement

The OPS Rule of Association (1985) declare that the Society’s purpose is

  • To provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas between people engaged in the field of psychotherapy
  • To promote the study, practice and teaching of psychotherapy
  • To offer an opportunity for therapists in the Oxford region to gather socially

In the 21st century we have built on these; we aim to

  • foster debate and discussion between practitioners of different therapeutic approaches
  • promote opportunities for mutual support and encouragement
  • provide a safe and stimulating space for professional development, especially for those new to the profession
  • contribute to the local network of information and resources
